Individual flight plan
A unique winged creature, created by the hand of an artist, prepares to ascend.
The Hamburg-based artist and master goldsmith Sabine Klarner, is well known for highly imaginative pieces of jewelry made of gold, silver, and gemstones. For Garpa she has created this simultaneously intricate and robust bee, with a body made of bronze and wings of grey antique glass. Each of the 24 pieces is delivered with a numbered, original aquarelle.
First of all, the bee was modelled in silver by the artist, and then cast, in an elaborate lost-wax process, at an art foundry. After undergoing an artificial ageing process, the metal shimmers in delicate nuances of colour. The antique glass for the wings – cut to size by a specialist glasscutter – comes from a traditional Oberpfälzer manufactory.
The artistically designed bee has a body made of bronze and wings of grey antique glass. With measurements of 19 x 4,5 x 15 centimeters, it alights beautifully on furniture, as well as in the palms of hands or on walls. An optional extra: a stylized bronze twig for decorative presentation. A longer bee wand for hovering in the garden.
